Producer Information
Bedrock Wine Co. is a Sonoma-based wine company founded in 2007 by owner and winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson. The label was created as a way for Peterson to showcase the quality of red and white grapes produced from ancient vines and distinct appellations in Sonoma, California including Sonoma Valley, Carneros, and Bennett Valley. Bedrock Wine Co. is driven by Morgan Twain-Peterson's desire to work with ancient field blends and old vines on unique California soils. Morgan is the son of founder and winemaker of Ravenswood Winery, Joel Peterson, and grew up making wine at the family estate. Twain-Peterson studied and traveled internationally, working with wineries such as Noon Winery in McLaren Vale, South Australia and Chteau Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, France. Morgan completed the prestigious Master of Wine qualification in 2017. Bedrock Wine Co. crafts a diverse range of wines from specific, well-known vineyard sites in Sonoma County, including the Monte Rosso Vineyard, Hudon Vineyard, Kirschenmann Vineyard, Evangelho Vineyard and Puccini Vineyard. The historic Bedrock Vineyard, located in the heart of Sonoma Valley, is a Peterson family holding and home to 120 year-old Zinfandel vines that produce fruit for some of Bedrock's wines. At harvest, grapes are picked earlier than most to retain acidity and better express terroir. At the winery, grapes are rarely sorted or destemmed. Fermentation is done with natural, indigenous yeasts and little racking or new French oak is applied to the wines during the aging process.
