Polish accordionist Lachow Uk has been performing in concert since the age of 10, making his concerto debut at the age of 15 (with the Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra), and since then has given many recitals in various cities. Anderson, viola, is a native of Glasgow. He is also a talented composer and has won numerous awards. The ensemble Duo van Vliet actively commissions new works from contemporary composers. The ensemble was formed to promote the rare sound of the viola and accordion. The ensemble is named after the great American musician Captain Beefheart, whose real name was "Don Van Vleet.
